DIY Muesli

Muesli such a great breaky option, you really can’t go past good ol’ fashioned oats to kick off the day!

🌾 Rolled oats are full of fibre, prebiotics for your gut bacteria, magnesium for nervous system support & B vitamins for energy.

🍇 The challenge Is trying to find muesli that isn’t full of sugar with loads of dried fruit, which spikes your blood sugars, and that’s what we don’t want!

💁🏻‍♀️ So I make my own, it takes 2min to prep & then feeds the family all week or more. Plus it means I can control the amount of added sugar that my young boys have.
You can easily adjust this recipe, just add whatever pantry staples you have like chopped nuts, sultanas or raisins, whatever you have - the formula is to focus on nuts and seeds, with only a very small amount of dried fruit (if any at all).

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 cups rolled oats

  • 1 cup shredded coconut

  • 1/2 cup hemp seeds

  • 1/2 cup chia seeds

  • 1/2 cup flaxseeds

  • 1 cup mixed pepita and sunflower seeds

  • 1 cup buckwheat kernals (optional)

  • 1/4 cup mixed sultanas and raisins

METHOD

  1. Combine all ingredients in an airtight jar and store in the pantry. done!

For all of us time-poor multitaskers, my time-saving tips are;

✅ Make double the batch so it lasts longer.

✅ Prep breaky the night before so all you need to do is pull it out of the fridge and serve it up.⠀

✅ If you don’t have time to make your own muesli from scratch, just buy a packet of muesli & then dilute it with same portion of rolled oats - it’s cheaper, will go further, and means you’re having half the amount of dried fruit in each serve.

Enjoy!
