Mental health is the leading cause of sickness absence and long-term work incapacity in Australia
Meet Cailie
I spent my early years in a food-loving family on a Queensland farm. My mum made everything from scratch, and I’d often be at her side helping prepare wholesome meals from paddock to plate.
Yet the lure of the big city lights beckoned. When I moved to Sydney in my early 20s, my love for food and cooking took a back seat while I focused on my corporate career.
For a while, the grind of corporate life left me feeling lethargic. I was overworked, stressed, and not putting my health first. After a couple of years, I knew things had to change. I instinctively knew how to heal myself with healthy food and lifestyle choices from my childhood.
As I regained my balance, my career progressed. Working in change management, I was drawn to projects centred around employee wellbeing and healthy workplaces. I understood the heavy toll that an unbalanced professional and personal life could take, and I was driven to help. I learnt how to work with people to incorporate new habits, behaviours and mindsets in subtle ways to achieve lasting change.
With a growing reputation as a health nut and foodie, I was keen to help my colleagues thrive through smart food choices. In a moment of clarity, I realised I wanted to take this further, by becoming a nutritionist. Soon into my degree, I fell pregnant with my first child.
I juggled full-time corporate work, part-time study, pregnancy, maternity leave and motherhood over seven busy years. I had my first baby boy and then my second a couple of years later. I would take my newborns to lectures, quietly feeding them at the back of the hall while scribbling notes.
It was a hard slog. I was tired. The lack of sleep took a toll on my mental and physical wellbeing. But at the same time, I was driven. I’d found my purpose.
Now as a clinical nutritionist, an experienced corporate change manager, and a mum of three lively young boys. There’s never a dull day!
I love working with businesses to help their employees make lifelong changes and healthy food choices to reach their full potential.
